Today, adding more durability to a color card requires a larger machine and lamination. The long life ribbon brings durability to a compact printer and a one step printing process, no lamination required.
Personalized ID card is printed with Yellow (Y) Magenta (M) Cyan (C) Black (K) and then add 2 extra thick protective overlay layers on top. This happens automatically in the printer. Result = 4x more durability for the card than a standard YMCKO printed image.
Additionally, an image can be printed onto the protective overlay layer, and create a security mark that looks like a watermark. This watermark will fluoresce under a UV lamp.
